Pulling Up And Chowing Down

This past weekend, Chica officially started pulling (or rather, pushing) herself up to standing.

Woo-hoo!!!

She used her name stool for the dramatic feat, since it's just the right height for the intricate maneuver, and the process went something like this:

1) Push up onto knees
2) Plant one foot for balance
3) Push on stool with hands
4) Plant other foot for standing
5) Drag feet closer together (since one is usually pretty far out)
6) Bounce in victory, waving booty in air (whilst smiling)
7) Fall

Of course, the unofficial Step 8 is: Mama smiles and claps and encourages like a fool.

:)

So in other news...I realized the other day that I haven't posted in awhile about Chica's eating habits of late, so I thought I'd give the official update.

Long and short--she's decided that people food (as well call it) is way more interesting than baby food, and I tend to indulge her. So here's a running list of things she's sampled:

  • Maple & brown sugar oatmeal
  • Taco meat
  • Shredded chicken (from sour cream enchiladas)
  • Empanadas
  • Queso & flour tortillas
  • Guacamole
This seems very Mexican heavy, doesn't it? (ha)
  • Macaroni & cheese
  • Lemon & blueberry pancakes (with syrup, naturally)
  • Lasagna
  • Spinach enchiladas
  • Spinach artichoke dip & pita bread
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Maple & brown sugar oatmeal pop tarts
  • Apple cinnamon nutri-grain bar
  • Quatro de leche cake (not too much)
And the list goes on and on and on.

So to sum it up: we went pretty quickly through the baby food phase and there's no turning back! And I LOVE it. It's so freaking fun to sit on the floor with her in the morning as we're watching a bit of The Today Show and know without a shadow of a doubt that she's going to crawl up into my lap so she can get to whatever I'm eating for breakfast.

And I'll happily share, 'cause who can resist her freaking cuteness???
