Wordy Update

Yesterday,  Chica had a rough time going down for her nap.

And by "rough," I mean I had to intervene after about an hour of hollering and decidedly not-sleeping and pull my patented straight-jacket move.

Of course, the straight-jacket move is highly effective in forcing her to simmer down and succumb to sleep (because she has no choice but to, when she can't really move--ha), but it always comes with very loud protestations, and yesterday's were pretty funny.

Because she's recently added the word "paci" to her word bank (strange, I know, that it wasn't one of her standard words long before now, but she just didn't say it much). Now that she does, she pronounces it like, "pass-ah" which is pretty darn cute.

So amidst the straight-jacketing, she kept spitting out (or tossing out, if she could get her little hand to her mouth) her paci, then immediately hollering, "paaaaaa-sssssaaaaah," with her eyes all squinted shut like she wasn't the cause of her own suffering.

It was hilarious.

But Mama won.

Mama always wins :)

So as I was staring down at my gorgeous nugget, reflecting on her verbal hilariousness (and just generally being a creepy Mama and adoring her whilst she slept), I went through a list of words she's added to her list since I last posted about her communication in October, and I thought I'd share:
  • Straw
  • Pattycake
  • Sip
  • Bite
  • Snack
  • Daddy, gimme a sip (seriously, she says the whole sentence and I die)
  • Dog/Doggie
  • Necklace
  • Bracelet
  • Belle (as in, the Disney Princess, naturally)
  • Where go? (shortened version of "where did he go?" when Daddy plays hide 'n seek)
  • Cake
  • Lips
  • Hair
  • Giddy-up
  • Choo-choo (sadly, the train and not an early preference for designer shoes)
  • Sit
  • Flower
  • Medicine
  • Book
  • Juice
  • Chocolate milk
  • Buttercup
  • Bloom
  • Mermaid
  • Paci
  • Chapstick
  • Bad girl
And last but not least, my very favorite, which she busts out on the highway ALL the time:
  • Big truck
Of course, there are tons of others she'll repeat after we speak them, but the words listed above are the ones she serves up on her own.

I really, really do love this verbal stuff. She's so freaking cute when she speaks and shows obvious pride for getting something out. I can only imagine how much better it will get from here.

You know...until the teenage years.

;)

Happy Weekend, peeps!
