Tantrums, Time Change & Time Out

Well, peeps. It's a week later and we're still dealing with the impact daylight savings 'round these parts.

My little nugget as been late to slumber for months now (spending, on average, about two hours in her crib before falling asleep), but time change has shifted it back to a ridiculous degree.

Ridiculous like a 21-month-old not falling asleep until after 10 p.m. Argh, argh, oye!

We're working on the problem by shifting nap time, bedtime and, when necessary, deploying my patented straight-jacket-until-child-falls-asleep method (though it's a little tough with a 9-month preggers belly, and in general, I try not to rely on it as the only solution). But until things get on a more even keel (right around the time Chicklet arrives, I'm sure--ha), we're dealing with the fallout of some behavioral issues. Boooo.

Today, for example, Chica had a major meltdown at the pond after we couldn't stay with a dog that passed by, and it waddn't pretty.

Mama had to haul Chica--who continued flailing and carrying on--all the way around the pond, and things didn't improve once we made it home.

So...time out.

It occurred to me that I've never posted pics of our time out method. (At least not that my preggers brain can remember).

Awhile back, Daddy had the smart idea to use the high chair since it's a confining space. But we turn it and face it in the corner.

Now these pics are both sad and funny--as most of our time outs tend to be--but the result is somewhat effective:

Disciplining is hard. Especially when I know my kiddo is just overtired and out of whack. But here's hoping it leads to fewer "issues" and a happier child. SOON!

P.S. For the record, Chica was so sweet for 90% of the day, which was heavenly since I'm soaking up my final days with only her. So at least this was only a portion of the overall today :)
