Eggs Trump Duck

So there we were, taking our typical stroll around the pond on this beautiful Friday of Easter weekend, when we came across...

EGGS!

The neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt is tomorrow, but the volunteers were already out getting everything in place. And, of course, I'm never going to complain about kind people volunteering for neighborhood events, but what child can resist eggs just sitting there 24 hours before they're supposed to be found???

Certainly not mine.

At first, we tried to keep her from picking them up, but after about two seconds, we realized that was a beyond-futile effort.

So we just let her go nuts.

Daddy juggled them, to her great delight...

And by accident, Chica discovered there's stuff inside the eggs if you can get them open...

That's about the time we realized we needed to remove child from premises--stat.

But as a consolation prize, we let her take just one (purple) egg home before we re-hid the rest.

Don't worry, Chica. Tomorrow you can snatch them up for realz.

In an ironic twist--we spend every day (both in person, and in drive-bys) looking for the elusive ducks that visit the pond. And today, there was one just ten or so feet from the shoreline, but of course, eggs trump duck, so the poor aquatic friend only captured Chica's passing interest.

What a quack.

;)
