Snap, Crackle, Pop! & Splash

Some days, life with kids is a sprint.

And some days, it's a gosh dang marathon.

You know--the kind of marathon that involves cooking pancakes, walking to the pond, splashing in the backyard, playing tag, showering, lunching, building with Legos, playing kitchen, sink-bathing soiled babies, making Rice Krispy Treats, doing laundry, singing, twirling, having a playroom picnic, playing with stickers, bouncing on the bed (yup, we do it), and still looking at the clock and feeling like it's only freaking 9:30 a.m. Ha.

That's what sleep deprivation'll do to ya (Side note: last night, I feel asleep slitting at the side of the bed at about 3 a.m., thinking about getting up to get some water. I woke when I almost fell.)

Despite the exhaustion, I love my girlies and I love doing something new...like making the Rice Krispie Treats.

In theory, Chica was intrigued by the krispies (though, surprisingly, did not try to eat them, even when I told her she could):

But when it came time to spread 'em, she cowered ("no, no no no, no no"):

But they looked innocent enough when they were finished:

And when I told her they were like cake (lie) she was sold:

I mean, who doesn't like sugar on top of sugar?

Sadly, I must report that they only tasted yummy when they were warm and gooey. They dried more firm than I wanted. More butter next time? Or marshmallow? How 'bout both?

At least splashing is something tried and true. It always makes Chica happy. And that makes Mama happy.

Happy It's-Almost-Friday-When-Daddy-Can-Help, peeps!
