Unintended Eye Exam

This is one of Chica's favorite books:

And these are the red, yellow and blue bugs--beetles?--on the first page of the book:

I'll have you know that these three bugs make an appearance on every page of the book, like so:

There it is. The teeny tiny, itty bitty, pinprick of a b****--I mean, bug. And we find all three. On every page.

Whoever figured out these bugs were some sort of illustrator's Where's Waldo, I cannot tell you. Me? My eldest? I cannot recall.

But I gotta tell ya--my little Chica's eyes are stellar. And dang it all--I can't rest until we find those blasted bugs. On every page. Every day. All three of 'em.

Zoom in about a gazillion percent and you can see the blue one there, sort of upside down:

I love my beloved Chica.

And pain or no, I love that she notices things like this and breathes new life into books we've read hundreds of times.

The mind of a child, peeps. It's a beautiful thing :)
