Awesome Vintage Canvas Project

A couple weeks ago, Nanna sent me the link to a blog she thought I might like, and though I must admit I've not searched the blog extensively, that's only because the first thing I read intrigued and distracted me.

Basically, it's a picture project that involves transferring your favorite pics onto an art canvas with the assistance of some soft gel that ultimately gives it a vintage flair.

I won't go into detail, because the video from the blog (link below) tells you everything you need to know:

I'll just show you the pics of my first, experimental canvases that I'm wildly obsessed with!

Look how coolio! It's hard to get the detail from just a picture (of this picture--ha), but hopefully, you'll get the gist.

This was a newborn shot of Chicklet I've always loved, but mostly I selected it because it's one of the few high-res shots I have at my disposal, since 99.9% of my daily pictures are just captured with my iPhone.

The process was so easy and inspiring--it's already got my mind racing into a thousand directions...I want to do a series of much larger canvases, probably in black and white.

I've always been drawn to the texture and character of canvas versus normal, glossy prints and the necessary frames/mats that scare a wall commitment-phobe like me.

I love that I could hang these with command strips that won't even require a nail in the wall. No muss or fuss required--and they'll be super-easy to change out.

Here's a black and white shot I tried of Chica hiding under a blanket. It's one of a few others from a photo session last Fall that I might play around with:

Chica was totally enamored by them--probably because I don't have many printed pics around the house (which is hilarious and ironic, considering I snap about a gazillion phone pics a day--ha).

It's only at times like these that I crave the quality of a DSLR camera versus the at-the-ready ease of my phone.

But...the timing is just perfect because Uncle Justin and his fabulous photography equipment and skills are in town!

So I'm hoping to capture some fresh, high-res shots of the girls before he leaves...just as soon as their poor viral rashes die down!

Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks, I hope :)
