Shadow Puppet Project

It is a truth universally known that my girlies love flashlights.

It is also a truth universally known that my girlies love their monthly Kiwi Crate projects.

It is also also a truth universally known that if you combine flashlights with Kiwi Crate projects, extreme happiness and entertainment will ensue.

And there you have your introduction to our project :)

We had a prime opportunity when Little Man dozed off in his swing for a lovely siesta yesterday morning. So as usual, us girlies raced upstairs, Chica chucked everything off the play table, and we got to serious work.

The kit included some fun cutouts, sticks, and brackets to assemble. We went with the cloud first.

And added the fun transparent moon and stars and lightning.

And then used the dry erase markers to add some color to them.

Then we relocated to Chica's closet (with Chicklet happily in tow).

It's hard to take pictures of the results for obvious reasons. But, boy, do I wish I had a shot of Chicklet. She was in awe, bent over gazing at the image on the wall. She thought it was super duper cool. And Chica was giggling with joy.

So naturally, we went back to the playroom and assembled a fish next--with Chicklet providing some color assist.

Then we raced back to the closet!

Amazing :)

We then assembled a slightly more involved caterpillar.

And raced back to the closet once more :)

Then we had to call it a day, as little guy was stirring. Though there are more cutouts to assemble another day.

It was such a fun project and great to see the girlies in awe of the projections. A wonderful, hands-on education of shadow and light.

Now, for a bonus shot:

After the last cutout, Chicklet had caterpillars on the mind, so she snagged her stuffed Hungry Caterpillar--that her sister tried to steal from her by chasing her around every room and eventually tackling and staging a sit-in. Ha.

I really need to post someday soon about the girls' sisterly "play" these days, 'cause man, is it entertaining. Must collect some action shots for that one.

Happy Weekend peeps!
