Cousin Birthday Fun

Chica was so.dang.excited to celebrate her cousin's birthday on Saturday that she asked to go to bed as soon as it was dark Friday night, so she could wake up and get on with the fun. Seriously. Adorable.

Here she is, bubbling with glee that the day finally arrived, and she was seconds away from cousins and swimming at The Great Wolf Lodge.

Hello, birthday girl :)

And, hello, Little Man in your first-ever swimsuit :) (Please pretend I'm just thoughtfully gazing into the distance instead of keeping a beady eye on Chicklet, who was making a run--er, swim--for the kiddy slide.)

Here's my little guy again when I was changing him, and his thigh looked so chunky and delicious, I just wanted to nimble it!

And here's my sweet Chicklet on a brief snack break. Both girlies got new, matching swimsuits because they've grown like WEEDS since the summer. I didn't get a really great shot of the suits sans life jackets/floaties, but they're super sweet.

And here's our hilariously bad selfie, ha. The water was slightly lukewarm, but Chica still managed to look hypothermic most of the time with blue lips. And I never did dunk Little Man, we just waded after everyone, enjoying the chaos without any potential shivers.

Sadly, that's all the swim pics I got, as water + iPhone = disaster-waiting-to-happen. But I got oodles of pics of this next bit--Chica and the birthday girl getting a special manicure spa treatment!

Here they are dried off and wearing their wolf ears as they head to the spa...

And here they are getting things started. They began by putting on fluffy, pink robes and picking out their colors...

Chica went with a lovely teal and a silver sparkle overlay...

And her cousin chose a littler, minty green with gold overlay. I mean, how dang cute are they, deliberating such important life choices???

Next up--getting settled at their seats...

And getting ready to soak!

I mean, I die. As if they weren't precious enough, they had to go and add princess tiaras.

Now, cleansing their hands...

Are they pruny?? ;)

And a good trim and file...

Followed by a massage that got Chica nice and calm and sleepy--ha (to be fair, it was approaching nap time).

Next up, the main event. The color! As it was Chica's very first nail polishing (I have never attempted at home), I was curious to see if she'd sit still, but she was a champ!

And just look at those teeny, adorable fingernails!

Time for her cousin's polish...

And here they are, after a brief, few minutes of drying time. Poor Chica had just knocked her chins climbing up on the banana split (now there's a phrase I never would have expected, ha), so she was smiling through the last of her tears, poor girl.

Alas, the fun was not yet over! To top things off, they each got lip gloss, a dusting of glitter powder, and some scented hair spray. (Adorably, Chica chose strawberry for everything she was asked while there.)

Oh, and then the final topper--a princess sash :)

I mean, how precious are they?! (Even with Cjhica slightly distracted, ha.)

I'm so grateful to the generous birthday girl for wanting her cousin to join her so badly. Chica was so enamored by her very first spa treatment, and I think it's just precious they got to experience it together.

So, yay, for so much fun!

So much, in fact, that we've been ignoring the reality that the hubby lost his wallet while at the lodge. Booooo. But tomorrow begins the canceling of cards and replacement of everything trauma drama.

Wish us luck!
