Swimming To A Close

Well, m'peeps.

Things, they are a-changin' 'round here.

Summer is truly coming to a close.

My girlies finished up their swim classes today and brought home their ribbons to prove it.

I'm so, dang proud of how happily they participated this summer. Particularly Chicklet, who started the summer in full-on meltdown mode during class, but finished up a total rockstar, able to hold her breath and swim for the 8-10 seconds underwater that was the goal of the class :)

And wouldn't ya know it--the little bugger made it to the very last class before needing her larger swimsuit, ha.

They're for sure going to miss their classes, but with the slow transition to Fall activities upon us, I know they'll be just fine and dandy with their focus diverted elsewhere.

And speaking of diverting attention--we were able to go on a walk all the way to the pond today for the first time in more than two months! (Praise the heavens for this cooler weather and intermittent rain!)

It seriously was the best ever.

We've continued our after-dinner walks a couple nights a week during the summer, but the heat forces us to take a must shorter, shadier path. So the full-on pond trek was a real treat.

They've even replaced the wood slats of the bridge and painted it since we last visited!

And the crepe myrtles looked lovely today.

And speaking of lovely...I'll end with a bonus pic of the sunset view from our backyard tonight.

Even the sunsets are a-changin'.

I just love the feeling of knowing Fall is on the horizon. Won't be too much longer, now.

Night, peeps.
