A Tiny Spring Break

So...I did something today that I never do, but I'm super glad I did, and I'd do it all over again if I could.

I woke up feeling awful for about the third time this week (nothing major; just a yucky round of sinus ick and feeling super rundown because of a sleep tank that's low and just won't fill up--oh, and three nonstop, amazing but demanding, lovable kiddos). So...

I called my husband home from work.

Yup.

I did it.

And you know what? It was hard to do mentally--I mean, I never even asked him to take off work when all three kiddos were sick with the horrendous vomiting ick for nine days--but also so easy to accept the help physically once I decided to do it.

Luckily, he's been having a lighter week at work (perhaps due to the effects of Spring Break in DFW), so the timing was rather perfect. And though I really just went about my day business as usual after he was home around 10 am, it was ridiculously nice to have my parenting partner around for the day.

And oh my heavens were the kiddos in heaven with their rambunctious play buddy around.

So...moral of the story: everyone needs a little spring break sometimes. Emphasis on the break.

:)

Now, some pics from the day.

First--this is how a Daddy with three young kiddos caffeines up. Just buys the jug from the grocery store and busts it open in the car:

Second--as a nice bonus of Daddy being home, I got help purchasing and placing my stone border for the flower bed Chica and I built in the back. We keep adding little tidbits every so often and it's looking rather official. Or, at least, far better than the barren, muddy area that it was:

Third--I had a chance to hang (with Chica's enthusiastic help using a toy hammer, hehe) this bulletin board I found for Chica's room earlier this week.

I'd been thinking about one for awhile as a place to hang some of her artwork and projects and came across this one on clearance at Target in a nice, neutral color with lovely, shiny, gold ribbon. And, of course, the ribbon keeps us from having to use sharp tacs while she's still so young):

She was pretty pumped. And she can reach it--even the top bit, with a stool--but Little Man can't. Yet, ha.

And, lastly, after I enjoyed the luxury of a very long afternoon nap, we went to dinner and the trio hammed it up:

So all is good, I was grateful for the help, I'm even more grateful that tomorrow is Friday, and I'm hoping for a good night's sleep.

Yay for my unofficial Spring Break day and the blessing of a hubby to help me get it.

Over and out, peeps
