Braid Buddies

So...one of the random factoids about me, myself and I:

My hair hurts sometimes.

Or perhaps, more accurately, my scalp hurts from the weight of my hair sometimes.

It's not like I have overly long hair, or some healthy, thick mane of it. It's more like I keep it pulled back, knotted up, not really fixed or often wet (classy, I know), and that just makes it ache.

So last Sunday evening, on a whim, I braided it up to keep it out of my face in a way that wouldn't hurt. And Chica saw it and immediately requested the same style.

So I got a braid buddy. :)

I have to say, one of the great joys of the kindergarten kickoff is Chica's brand new interest in a variety of hairstyles.

If you've followed this here blog for any length of time, you probably know that my beautiful eldest maintained her tiny in-the-front-of-her-hair braid for probably a year and a half. And had absolutely no interest in styling it otherwise, ha.

But for the past month, we've had ponytails, pig tails, half up, pulled back with a flip (a la Chicklet's typical style). And now the braid.

It's soooo fun. And I lurv it.

Even if it makes my girl look that much older! Waaaah.

And now, to end this posts can we puh-lease take a closer look at my totally random patch of shoulder freckles. They baffle me, but they are my friends.

And with that randomness, you now know two new things about me: 1) my hair hurts, and 2) I have shoulder freckles, so my work here is done.

Over and out.

P.S. I would totally try to give Chicklet a braid, too (I mean, what's better than one braid buddy? Two braid buddies!) but she's currently in a fly-and-be-free hair phrase (again, ha) and won't let me even pull it back without much distress. Hair in the face, all the time. Gotta love it. And her.
