Cool Vibes & Growing Babies

You see these cool kiddos o’ mine, chillin’ like villains on the couch today?

They’re living the cool and lazy vibe we rolled with on this Sunday.

And rocking the new shades each of them received in anticipation of Springtime, in general, and Spring Break, in particular (more on that another time).

And I must report that the shades aren’t the only thing they’re in need of these days.

This cutie pie Little Man of mine is growing like a weed lately. He sprouted so fast over a few short weeks that he outgrew all his pajamas, all at once.

He went from comfortable snug to hilariously constricted—and even resorted to a crotch-tugging, heiny-wiggling, squirmy bug dance as soon as he was dressed after bath time, just to try to get enough room not to sleep with a diaper wedgie, ha. It was almost cute enough for me to keep him in the 3T size. Alas, after a few nights of chuckles, I took pity and snagged some 4T sizes.

Needless to say—between the outgrown pajamas, a handful of shoes he’s flat-out rejecting these days, including his beloved rain boots (“too tight”) and a bunch o’ shirts that are looking a bit closer to crop tops, I’ve started firing up that credit card and ordering some new threads, ha.

Next up, we have this cutie-pie...

Now, she has a funny habit of trying to convince me things fit (“it’s fine; it’s fiiiiiine”) even when her nightgowns have just become shirts, and her feet have to be jammed into her shoes.

She likes what she likes and doesn’t like much of a change-up, but I’ve won her over with soft fabrics and new pants that just happen to appear in her closet.

She’s a special kind of shopping challenge, though, because she has zero interest in being dragged along and hassled for clothing opinions—but then she’ll offer tons of them way too late, after we’re home and I’m trying—and failing—to get her dressed, ha.

Sadly, we don’t have many hand-me-downs from Chica for the upcoming season, so again...fire up that credit card.

And last, but certainly not least...this smiling girly girl:

It’s my habit on school days to select two outfits and let her choose the winner. Cuts down on indecision time while she’s still mostly asleep.

But a couple weeks ago, she asked me if I had any pants for her that weren’t short, ha. Because her full-length sizes have become crop style for any outfit I choose, ha.

Problem is, she’s a total string bean, so when I get the proper length, they’re insanely baggie and droopy. So...it takes us awhile to find some winners, though thankfully, Old Navy’s seem to work.

Now, she’s the opposite of Chicklet in that she lurvs to shop and give opinions. But I’ve learned to throw some tricks in to get her real thoughts.

I ask her if it’s something she’d wear at school or at home.

School = a winner.

Home = she doesn’t really wanna wear it but doesn’t want to turn down the excitement of any new clothes, ha. But it’ll sit in the closet.

Gotta love hunting for answers.

So. The moral of the story: my babies are growing and we are shopping. And they’re looking super-cool in their Sringtime shades.

:)

Happy Holiday Weekend, peeps!
