Our Little Fall Break

So...today was a holiday (or really, a teacher work day) for our school district, and though it wasn’t an official Fall Break, we totally made it one.

And, boy oh boy, after what felt like a rough last week (ahem, Little Man’s sick mo-hoood), I was really looking forward to the break for a fun weekday with some extra time for adventures with my trio.

So...I’m not gonna lie—when I woke up already in the throws of a migraine (booooo, barometric pressure changes) and had the light bulb moment that the place I wanted to take the kiddos was closed on Mondays, I was about to get down in the dumps.

But.

We rallied with some fun and snuggles, my migraine pain was manageable, and when I called our beloved nature preserve just to double check about their closed-on-Mondays status, an employee cheerfully answered the phone with, “hello, and, yes, we are open today!”

I mean, halleluiah

The kiddos were so pumped, they started running laps around the playroom, ha. God Bless our happy dinosaur place for opening on a random Monday because they knew kiddos were out of school.

:)

Not much explanation is needed for these pics. We just enjoyed a fan-freaking-tastic return to see our beloved dinosaurs (our first visit of the season!).

Then we met Daddy for lunch (and Chica was so excited because she never gets to join in, unless it’s summer).

And then, to top it all off, we busted out our google-eyed inflatable vampire decoration, started quiet time after when we’d usually have to be picking Chica up from school, and then regrouped to make a super-fun (and flour-filled, ha) round of Halloween sugar cookies in the stormy early evening.

It was all golden

I’m sooooo grateful for such a happy day off from our weekday schedules and routines.
