Holiday Ice Skating!

So...if you’ve ever seen this golden gem of a short movie, you know that Olaf is on a mission to find a holiday tradition for Elsa and Anna, because he loves them so:

And there’s absolutely nothing relevant about any of it, in relation to this post—except for the fact that we watch it all the time, all the time, so my kiddos understand the idea of holiday traditions, and often hem and haw over ours.

And after much pondering, my dear Chica declared our one, official Family Holiday Tradition, and it was...ice skating!

And it made me simultaneously smile and laugh and bang my head against a wall, because...

Smile: I love that we go ice skating every holiday season, and that she loves it.

Laugh: I love that we go ice skating every holiday season, and it’s always sort of a hot mess of keeping tiny people upright.

Bang My Head: Of all the magic I work to create throughout the entire holiday season (hello, sugar cookie making, explosive decorating, Elf shenanigans, hot chocolate Mondays, church events, festive apparel, and on and on and on), the one holiday tradition she called out was the one that requires next to nothing from me. Oye.

Nevertheless. :)

After three, consecutive years, the ice skating is part of our holiday hoopla, and we lurv it. A lot.

I was wildly impressed with my Little Man’s coordination—when he was interested in keeping both skates on the ground, hehe.

Sometimes he was a little excited and overzealous, and overconfident that others were keeping him upright, so he was free to play, ha.

And Chicklet’s gained in skill and confidence since last year, too!

And bless Chica, who got to go ice skating a couple months ago for a birthday party—and it only whet her appetite for more!

And the bonus bit of fun for this year—we forced Nanna into skates (with a protective posse of gentlemen surrounding her, hehe. No broken bones, puh-lease!)

Yay, for letting your inner child skate free!

And, yay, for Uncle Justin’s amazing Pom hat!
(Jazz hands.)

MUCH MORE fun to post as time allows!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
