Riotous Reindeers!

So...don’t you just lurv it when you look up after a handful of days of Christmas madness and pre-New Year’s Eve/in-between holidays/no-man’s-land-ness, and actually get to say: wait, what day is it???

Well. I’ve totally been living in that no man’s land, with no plans to emerge until I absolutely must—for a slew of reasons I’ll post, along with randomness to kick off the New Year.

But for now, I shall attempt to at least pull it together long enough to start catching up on Christmas posts...starting with where we left off.

Last I shared, we enjoyed a fabulous round of traditional ice skating on Christmas Eve morning. And if you want to know how we went from that to this...

...then keep on reading. ;)

First up after ice skating: a yummy, honeybaked ham meal with some delicious honey/soy Brussels sprouts, sweet potato casserole, and slaughtered green beans—about the most I’ve cooked in the past two weeks, because, well, MADNESS.

The kiddos were stinking adorable because they always adore feasting in the dining room. Because, fancy.

But because of the ice skating, and the long meal and play afterwards, and the early family church service...Chicklet was flat out zonked by the time we pulled up for the service, ha. Holidays are tiring!

But we made it. We celebrated the WHOLE REASON FOR THE SEASON, in massive, obnoxious style.

For the record, when we went to church again this morning, nearly a week later, a few fellow congregants were still talking about the suits of my dashing men. I die.

Then straight home for our traditional appetizer-focused, delicioso, Christmas Eve meal. Bacon roll ups and cucumber party sandwiches, I heart you. A lot

A check-in with the Santa tracker on Mama’s phone (he was in Portugal!)...

And some yummy sugar-cookie decorating for Santa—and my babies’ bellies...

And then, the crafty hilariousness began, when the wee ones were in bed.

Now. You might recall that I adore making my family do silly craft challenges each holiday—and though they ocassionaly feign disgruntlement, they’re not fooling anybody. I know they all dig it. And it’s such a lovely way to spend time together focused on fun and not electronics.

Last year, I seriously almost busted a gut over our superhero challenge. It was awesomesauce. But I decided to center things back on Christmas for this one with a reindeer challenge.

We all know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen; Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen. And, of course, the star, Rudolph.

But do you recall Santa’s lesser known reindeer???

Challenge extended.

By the end of the night, we had:

Hark Von Sassy Pants
Blazin’
Nip Slipzen
Jolly Parten
Roxy
Elvis Presleigh
Harry Trotter

I mean, everyone has inner hilarity and creativity ready to bust out of them—given the right sparkly pipe cleaners and pom poms. :)

Standard disclaimer that, yes, I am crazy. And so is my family. But hopefully just funny and silly and not offensive, ha. So puh-lease enjoy these pics with a light heart!

Such a busy but fun-and-food-filled Christmas Eve. Just as it should be. :)

More catch-up posts mañana!

Hope you all are wringing (and ringing) every last bit of loveliness out of these final holiday season days!

Over and out.
