Our Farewell Tour—Mall, Downtown, & Haircuts!

Oh. My. Heavens.

This week.

Has made me tired.

I think I took the fewest number of pics this week that I’ve taken since any of my kiddos were born—and that’s just a testament to the busy, busy, busyness. And I’ve certainly been absent on this here blog!

But, luckily...

It’s Friday (our last in this house!).

The hubby is home (well, our home for one, final week).

And I think, strangely, this week was tougher than the next will be (well, at least the first few days of the week, before the packers arrive, and, you know, the actual move happens), because I’ve now completed 90% of my errands that took me here, there, and everywhere. So early next week will be more hunkered down/nesting/dissembling activities that will at least keep me at the house!

So...here’s to wishful thinking and now, please enjoy this randomness of pics and updates, before my brain makes a whirring noise and completely shuts down for the evening.

Firs up: the mall. (Or at least, the one we’ve always considered our mall, up here in our neck of the woods).

I had a few errands to run there, so we made a little outing of it and completed the whole ritual of: 1) rented fire truck double stroller, 2) carousel, 3) Disney store, and 4) Barnes & Noble. Since my kiddos haven’t really had the best appetites this week, we shockingly skipped the pretzel bites and didn’t have the stamina to walk to Nordstrom for our balloons, but otherwise, we hit all the high points. :)

It really is amazing to think of the dozens and dozens of times we’ve enjoyed this carousel.

Starting as far back as when Chica was barely old enough to walk (I mean, this mall was the very first place I ever brought her and set her free on her little toddler legs, without a stroller. It was such a novelty for both of us—and such a workout for her little, enthusiastic body—that I remember it like it was yesterday. Sentimental sigh.).

Fast forward to the phase of three kiddos under age three and a half, when I had one child strapped to my chest in a baby carrier, another barely old enough to be trusted to hold onto her horse for dear life, and a third that was still so young that she couldn’t hike herself up without assistance. I mean...the effort this carousel took during that phase was staggering. And hilarious. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

And I bet my babies wouldn’t, either.

Because I’m a sucker, and because he was still owed a poo present (potty training is ongoing, m’peeps)...Little Man’s walked away from The Disney Store with a prize.

And, yup, he’s still rocking his opened-toe-shoes-with-socks look, due to his injury. But today, for the first time in 8 days, he braved tennis shoes and didn’t seem bothered. Woohoo!

Our Farewell Tour has also included a last visit to our lovely, historic downtown square—complete with a meal at our favorite little breakfast diner, and a stop at the candy/popcorn shop. :)

Some ritual mother/daughter Starbucks runs, and fresh haircuts, too.

The to-do lists and the upheaval certainly seems unending. But the finish line of getting our family all back under one (probably-still-being-renovated) roof is in sight.

I’ll try to post more frequently this week—if anything, for my sanity and the ritual of it—but be patience with my stops and starts of posting.

And send out happy, productive vibes for a lovely, final week!

Over and out.
