Lazy Hazy Fevered Daze Of Summer

So...the fifth and final one bit the dust.

Chica woke this morning, her typical chipper self. And within an hour, her health tanked and a sizeable fever spiked. Booooo.

Now, aside from the pitifully heartbreaking state she was in, I must confess to some Mama heinousness. Because I’m kinda sorta glad that we can just get this lingering viral YUCK through the whole familia now, before the holiday next week.

Only major problem: tomorrow if Chica’s birthday!!! Oye.

We’ll be doing the decoration fun, of course, and some little presents, but our family outing isn’t scheduled until Friday, so here’s hoping for some significant recovery between now and then.

In the meantime...we totally did our part to just LAZE about in a sick haze today. And I’m not gonna lie: it was rather glorious.

We watched not one.

Not two.

Not three.

But four movies, thankyouverymuch.

(Moana, Tangled, How To Train Your Dragon 2, and Hotel Transylvania 2, in case you were curious.)

And I felt not one ounce of guilt.

There were a handful of puzzles thrown in during the day. But I’m gonna be honest and say there was also a massive amount of iPad time, too.

Again—zero guilt.

Not only am I still totally not 100% from my own viral battle (when did walking through Target become so exhausting, and don’t even get me started on the number of times I had to sit yesterday at the DoSeum!). But I’m just totally at the mothering age where I know know know how quickly this thing called Summer flies by.

I mean, the deadline for ordering school supplies is this week. I’m facing a handful of other impending Fall sign-ups. And that alarm clock will be set waaaay back again come August.

I’ll gladly take this time.

I just wish we could leave the germs out of it.

Not gonna lie...it was a little slice of heaven to pile all my babies in my bed come “quiet” time just to change up our couch position. I mean, snuggles are the best.

And even better than the best—about halfway through Dragon, I heard my eldest snoring a bit and was so grateful for her little shuteye.

Probably her first nap in about a year (or scratch that—since the pre-Thanksgiving round of strep throat heinousness). And, boy, did her little fevered body need it.

Here’s hoping for some livelier, healthier babies maƱana. And if not, I’ll dose ‘em with loads more cuddles.

Over and out.
