Colorado Springs 2019–Day 2

Okay, m’peeps. Our massive shake-up continued today, with...SNOW!

I mean, lots of perfect snow! Such a crazy transition from yesterday’s warm rock formation climbing perfection to today’s winter(ish) wonderland! But so awesomesauce. It’s been quite a long time since the kiddos have been able to live it up with some white fluffy fun, and they definitely got hit quota today.

The day was really divided into three parts...

Phase 1: Frigid But Waiting

I thought we’d be the ridiculous Texans, all decked out in unnecessary gear, but, no! It was COLD. And windy. So when we set off for breakfast, we were bundled to the nines and had the best time sitting by a wall of windows (at an entirely gluten-free restaurant, no less; the hubby was in heaven) watching the flurries begin. :)

Phase 2: The Snow Is On!

Then after a warming hot chocolate run, we decided to go for a drive, since the weather wasn’t too cooperative for much besides true snow fun. So we headed up this scenic little stretch leading toward Seven Falls (which is an activity on our list).

Alas, despite the coolio idea of seeing some waterfalls in the snow, we knew the kiddos wouldn’t last long in the frigid temps, so we decided to shelve the official visit for tomorrow. But...we ended up having the best time just hopping out of the car for a bit near the gated entrance to the Falls, since it was in an isolated area with a picture perfect snowscape. :)

I love this pic so much I can’t stand it. :)

Phase 3: Snow, Snow, Snow!

Then...after our epic, unplanned snow-fun stop by the Falls, we figured we’d enjoyed our fill of some snowball fun and that was that. But, the best was yet to come when we stopped for a quick lunch and then plotted some snowman making once we returned to the hotel.

And, man, was the snow white landscape absolutely epic. Just fluffy snow perfection, and the kiddos were thrilled. So we just let them go NUTS. And we made our tiny, little snowman, and we just let them play, play, play—until they froze their tiny hands and feet and we finally had to pack it in. It was just the best. Couldn’t have asked for a better bit of fun in an atmosphere we definitely cannot get back home.

So grateful for another really diverting day (that we capped off with a late afternoon movie theatre bit of fun, hehe).

Tomorrow will be yet another change-up with weather warming again, and sun with no snow. So heeeere’s to more fun for our finally day!

Over and out.

:)
