Distancing Day 21: Palm Sunday!

So...we’ve closed out our third official week of distancing (and we’re closer to four weeks within our household), and I feel like that deserves a moment of reflection. And appreciation that we’ve made it this far with our sanity (mostly) intact! Woohoo!

My homebody kiddos continue to be totally and complete great with this setup. They’re thriving on the home time, the nesting time, the family time. All is well.

And it was a particular joy to “attend” our church service again this morning via steaming platform, and engage in the start of this Holy Week, as opposed to the sermons of overcoming fear and anxiety that have been the central focus for the last three weeks.

We had our faux palms at the ready...

And Chica flipped through her children’s Bible to find the passage about Jesus entering Jerusalem so she could follow along with the message...

And during the adult sermon (when the kiddos are usually out of the sanctuary and in a separate building for their kids’ church time when we’re on site), I had them coloring and listening in from the kitchen. :)

It was a lovely morning and and wonderful start to this important week of faith. And this year, more than ever, I’m excited to have this Easter focus for the next seven days. I feel like we might have a greater chance of really soaking it all in—and allowing it to be a much-needed diversion and celebration.

So here’s hoping we’ll tackle a few more crafts, a few more streaming church services, and wake up to a grateful Easter morning one week from now. :)

In other silly household news...we turned the dining room into our dance room for the foreseeable future, hehe.

We relocated the dining table into the study across the entryway for the hubby to utilize this month. And it was just sort of annoying for the dining room chairs to be left in there, haphazardly.

So...we gave them the boot for the next few weeks, and we’re going to rock the minimalist vibe and utilize it for all sorts of fun and silliness.

Side note: I’m not sure if I ever really shared official before/after photos of this room, though you’ve seen tons of pics (or at least various angles) in the past year.

Obviously, it’s empty state at the moment isn’t an accurate “after,” but it’s still fun to look at the “before” and note the changes:

The lighting fixture and the stone wall we installed where older built-ins used to be are two of our very favorite things in the house. Along with the amazing quartz lamps that coordinate so perfectly (that were a random find before we ever moved)!

It’s a happy space with a peaceful view out the windows into a little courtyard (not sure that’s the right word) area. And we dig it.

I have grand delusions of buying a new dining table sometime in the future, but that’s another plan for a another, non-pandemic day!

Until then, we’re going to enjoy our play time in the new free zone. :)

Happy Palm Sunday, peeps.

Stay healthy, stay sane.

Over and out.
