Brides, Breakdowns, & Brilliance

Oh my heavens, peeps.

I’ve been feeling a little topsy-turvy the past few days.

Honestly, I’ve just been filled with quite a bit of anxiety that mostly centers around the rising number of Covid cases again, and the correlating, early information we’re receiving from the school district regarding what the new academic year will look like.

And the bottom line is this: like most Americans, I think I was cautiously optimistic that momentum was swinging in a positive direction to return, slowly, to a (new) normal. But now, I’m feeling far less optimistic and a whole lot more uncertain.

Of course, I absolutely know that circumstances can swing wildly in one direction or another in a matter of days and weeks, and we still have about 7-8 weeks before the official start of the calendar school year. So. I’m trying not to getting too bogged down by the concerns and uncertainty, but...it’s hard. It’s so very hard.

But, instead of going in to more depth about the anxiety I’m starting to feel ramp back up, I’m going to take a moment to note some of the ongoing beauty of this time. The special, family moments and tidbits that fill my gratitude cup to the brim.

First up: yay, for my beautiful (almost birthday girl) eldest, who randomly came to me this morning saying she wanted to get out my wedding dress, put on some makeup, fix her hair like a bride, and make a grand entrance down the stairs (because, apparently, she’s always thought it would be a good staircase for something like that).

Because I’m not really precious about my wedding dress (strange, I know), I was all for it. Because it was a gorgeous bit of dress up that made her so happy. And she paid such attention to details with her earring and wedding ring and necklace selection. The whole, nine yards.

If you’re curious, here’s a post about the first time I got out my wedding dress for the girlies’ to enjoy:

And now I have a second beautiful little visual of my girl, who’s just growing up so, dang fast.

In other random moments of gratitude...here’s the long line of items that Little Man lined up today. Everything he owns that’s Spider-Man related, tehe.

Books, figurines, stuffed animals, web shooters. I think the grand tally was nearly 50 items, and I’m sure there are more (I don’t see any costumes here in this long line, for example), but still. He’s a blessed little boy.

And another moment that warms my heart like mad:

My youngest two hugging without too much fighting. :)

And, lastly...so many happy, giggly, silly smiles around mouthfuls of freshly-baked chocolate cake.

I’m going to do my best to continue to focus on the little moments as things continue to feel topsy-turvy.

And hopefully, someday soon, it will all level out.

:)
