Happy, Spooky Outdoor Fun

So...yesterday was the best kind of Fall family day.

Fresh air.

Something active.

Something productive.

And something festive!

It was Mulch Day, for us. And we just had to find a way to make it bearable. Because I’m sorry to say that this giant palette is only about a third of the mulch we really need for the property, but we’re gonna spread it out across a couple of months, ha. So at least Round 1 is complete. :)

It was still a pretty warm day, but tolerable in mid-morning when we made it out there. So we busted out the soccer goals, brought out a few games for the kiddos, and let them go nuts and use their wild imaginations.

And one of the best diversions during our outdoor fun: Daddy made up a game situation where the crazies sat on top of the mulch but had to not be on the bag he was removing when the music stopped, ha.

(Also, please note how Chica looks about thirteen years old in her high pony. I die. And it hurts, ha.)

And when they needed a rest from the sun and playing, they joined the soccer goals together and made a lovely outdoor fort. And please note that giant are of landscaping behind the fort, that needs about 60 bags of mulch in-and-of-itself, that will happen in Round 2. Oye.

Seriously, though...all good fun, while Mama and Daddy did the tough work. ;)

But the reward was a lot of very happily mulched landscaping—and then some fun, outdoor decorations. Woohoo! (Alas, the ghosts by the door were too light and kept flying away, so we had to bring them back inside as indoor decor.

Hello, black cat and mummies.

And the new addition this year...our 12-foot inflatable spooky tree.

It was a long few hours but it’s such a happy thing to have our outdoor Halloween spirit matching our indoor, now.

So...yay, for a productive, festive, Family Fall Saturday.

And then a slightly more low-key Sunday to help our backs heal.

And now...back to the virtual school routine, tomorrow.

Wish us luck and sanity.

Happy Sunday, peeps.

Over and out.
