A Lazy Holidaze Weekend

So, here are my babies before breakfast...

And here they are after lunch...

And here they are after dinner...

So in case it’s not obvious from exhibit A, B and C, please allow me to share that we had the loveliest, laziest Saturday. :)

Though, if you look closely at the pics above, you’ll see that my babies showered and changed pajamas at some point amidst their movie watching and vegetation. All thanks to their help outside as I hung our holiday wreaths and staked some fun candy canes in the landscaping. So at least they got some fresh air for a bit, hehe.

The house is definitely starting to look quite jolly. The kiddos’ bedroom trees and the living room tree have all been up for a week, but we’re just taking our sweet time unpacking and adding ornaments. And I’ll get to the other trees, eventually. Low stress, all fun.

Oh, and say hello to the inflatable tree that we busted out of the attic today. Only time will tell if it makes the long haul to Christmas, as it teeter-totters a lot and hasn’t made it but a couple of weeks in past years. But it’s in a spot that’s pretty safe from wind, so here’s hoping!

Now...despite all the interior jolly that’s making the house feel festive, I finally admitted to myself today that the exterior of this SA casa of ours just isn’t a Christmas house.

It thrives as a Halloween house. It just loves the oranges and blacks and spookiness of October and Fall.

But it just resists me every step of the way when I try to make it a holiday/winter wonderland.

I’m guessing it’s the tan stucco and palm trees, and general way that it screams South Texas that keeps it from feeling so traditionally festive.

But that’s okay.

Our last house in McKinney thrived as an exterior Christmas house. So classically lit up with wreaths and lights, it was glorious. So it’s okie dokie if this one has different preferences.

Who am I to judge?

;)

So...all this to say that we’re GRATEFUL (remember our month of focusing on gratitude?) for our lazy Saturday. And aside from online church tomorrow, it shall be a lazy Sunday, as well.

And we are GRATEFUL for it.

Over and out.

P.S. Shout out to this book as the wording inspiration for this post. It’s written by my favorite duo authors, and I read it in about 24 hours a couple weeks ago. It’s pure holiday hilarity and romantic joy.

And P.P.S. Daddy got in on the lazy couch action when the kiddos vacated it for a time period. He’s happy as a clam watching the rescheduled Masters golf this weekend.
