A Technology Tie-In

So...the following tidbit made me chuckle so much that I’ll post it in the hopes of brightening your Monday. :)

This afternoon, after Chicklet and Little Man wrapped up a solid, joint hour of phonics and spelling at the kitchen table (adjusted to each of their learning levels), the last task I assigned was to write some sentences utilizing the spelling words.

Now. As a preschooler, Little Man mostly writes single words only. So sentence spacing is new to him, and every time I helped him to spell out a word, I’d tell him to put a space before the next one, so all the letters weren’t strung together.

And, of course, I expected him to follow in line with his sissies’ tendencies to set their pointer finger on the page to make an adequate space before beginning the next word.

But he insisted on drawing this symbol instead...

And it took me a minute to connect the dots that were evident to him, and then I got a major giggle when I figured it out.

He was drawing the symbol that’s used on the search bar of Netflix when you want to put a space between words, haha.

I mean...it makes total and complete sense!

Especially since I let him get a lot of spelling and letter locating practice by navigating the search bar of Netflix with the remote when he’s finding one of his shows.

This error is almost so cute I don’t want to correct it.

And it’s also a complete sign of his technological times.

Love it.

It’s a joy and blessing to be so up close and personal with my kiddos’ learning in this unprecedented year of ours that I get these little insights into their brains.

But I’ll also be grateful when Chicklet’s mandatory quarantine time is complete. It’s a bit more difficult to toggle back to virtual learning when you know it’s very temporary. Regardless...she’s a happy clam at home and it’s lovely to spend some extra time with her.

Happy Monday, peeps.

Stay healthy, stay sane.
