A Restoration Reprieve—Water Day!

Well, peeps.

We well and truly had a great family day. With sun and food and WATER and smiles.

It was sooooooo lovely to just leave our cares behind for a full day of living up some fun.

And after yesterday’s rain, the morning dawned all sunny and warm. Perfect for an outdoor water day. :) With smiling babies so eager to explore and play.

But before we dined al fresco for breakfast, I took the kiddos on the liveliest little scavenger hunt around the resort (while poor Daddy waited on our table, ha.) The mission was to track down these adorable stuffed Longhorns based on the following clues. :)

We completed six of them in the morning. Then, after dinner, we rounded up the final two, and the kiddos retrieved their yummy prizes (Hershey’s bars). It was a really really fun and simple family activity. Totally up our alley. And it helped us roam to areas of the resort (like the conference center wing) that we’d never explored before. Bonus.

Now.

The rest of these pics need little explanation.

Just our yummy buffet breakfast in the loveliest outdoor locale.

And then water, water and more water!

We tackled our swim fun in stations of about half an hour or so.

Smaller pool by the sand.
Kiddos’ hot tub.
Snack and sunscreen reapplication.
Toddler/slide water park.
Sand fun/more swimming.
Lazy River.

And...out. They’d had plenty of sun by that point.

All. Good. Things.

We’ve now managed three stays at this resort since our move to SA. And it’s so fascinating to me that each one has come at a time of stress and upheaval when we truly needed to seek refuge a bit.

I’m fully and completely aware of our privilege in managing this little breather away from our restoration craziness. So many individuals and families live through stressors of all shapes and sizes and durations, without anything to help boost their morale or give them an escape.

And I think recognizing that privilege and blessing (and making sure the kiddos do, as well) has made this little 36 hour break all the more precious.

We’re checking out and heading back to the casa after brunch tomorrow. With a long list of to-dos and prep for another major week to push through.

BUT.

If all goes accordingly to plan, next weekend, we might be moving furniture back into the downstairs while we trudge through the final weeks of kitchen restoration, and it’s so exciting to think of setting up our home again. Someday soon, it will be our sanctuary again.

Happy Saturday, peeps.

Stay healthy, stay sane.

Over and out.
