When Life Bites A Bit

Well, peeps.

We had the loveliest few days in Tulsa with family for baby cousin’s baptism and the Easter holiday (and just a general escape from the mass chaos of our property at the moment), but as we approached San Antonio again, things tanked a bit.

Long and short—Little Man got sick, with enough worrisome symptoms that we ended up in urgent care this morning for Covid tests that were blessedly negative. Halleluiah. We did not want to have to make those calls of shame to everyone we came in contact with, despite our ongoing caution and mask wearing.

Luckily, after a forced day of rest today, Little Man was pretty stable with more energy this evening. And when our dinner consisted of bland mac and cheese that he could stomach, and easy breezy turkey sausages for the girlies, I had them haul their bowls out to dine poolside.

Fresh air always does some good.

Now.

You might notice a beautiful, shimmering, BLUE pool behind my babies. Another Halleluiah. And an Amen.

While we were away, the intense madness of pool restoration and exterior painting was completed. And, man, am I glad they did. Those few days where we had nearly a dozen contractors inside and outside the property was just INSANE. Massively over-the-top.

But now that the worst of the exterior portion is behind us (with the exception of garage door and window shenanigans that will follow in several weeks), at least we have some calming and beautifully-colored views to stare at while the inside of the house is still a hot mess express.

At some point in the future, when all the details are finalized and I’ve had a chance to complete a bit of yard work, I’ll write some massive posts about both the pool restoration process, as well as the exterior painting. Along with a gazillion staged pics, tehe. But you gotta give a girl some time to put out some pots of flowers and welcome mats, first. The devil’s in the details, amiright?? ;)

In the meantime, enjoy these sneak peeks of the BLUE pool we now have.

Along with our super classy dinner, ha.

The gorgeous, multi-colored tile we chose for the restoration is shimmering beautifully against the blue water now It’s so lovely to watch it shine at various times of the day, depending on the sun’s path in the sky. And for the record, it’s Chicklet’s favorite part. :)

And we quite possibly scored the GREATEST compliment in the world from Chica today, when she arrived home from school. She looked out at the vibrant blue and declared it one change that she really likes (and my girl does not like change, so that was major).

Also. Here’s a sneak peek of the exterior painting:

If you haven’t seen pics of our casa in awhile, the impact of the change won’t hit you, but let me assure you, it’s also MAJOR.

We went from a very southwestern brown/khaki to a beautiful classic light buff, and it has absolutely transformed the place. And it’s so US. I have no doubt, a bunch of South Texas loving neighbors have driven by, wondering why we went light and bright, but man oh man, is it totally our jam.

This convenient pic I took to catch our little lizard friend tonight will give you a solid idea of the paint colors.

The base is Classic Light Buff.
The trim accent is Fresh Eucalyptus.
And the front porch is Portsmouth.

Love, love, love.

Hysterically, one of my very favorite bits is not with back patio ceiling, that I asked to be painted the accent color. And it is almost laughable how different it looks from before.

Also. Might I please note that in dining outdoors and taking these pics, I secured my first mosquito bite of the season. And so did Chica.

But it was worth it for the fresh air. :)

And here’s hoping my little guy feels happy and boisterous mañana.

Stay healthy, stay sane, peeps.

Over and out.
