Test Kitchen Tuesday—Monkey Bread!

Oh my heavens, peeps. This round of Test Kitchen Tuesday was our best yet!

A really fun recipe (it was Little Man’s selection this go-‘round), with lots of hands-on action for the kiddos, and delicious results. Win/win/win!





We knew ours would be slightly different than the official recipe, for two main reasons:

1) We used all dairy-free, gluten-free ingredients so the hubby could enjoy these, as well.

2) We still don’t have an oven (story of our year), so we had to outsource to the air fryer.

But everything translated so well that we will absolutely utilize this as a standard recipe moving forward. In fact, I have all sorts of flavor/icing tweaks in mind!













They were little rockstars forming their dough balls…









And the messy joy of getting to roll the dough in both the butter and the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture was priceless. 











Here they were, heading into the air fryer…



And perfectly cooked when they came out!



Now. Admittedly, ours were a bit more like donuts than true stuck-together monkey break, but they were really fantastic. A slight crisp on the outside thanks to the air fryer, and super doughy on the inside, and you’d never know they were gluten-free/dairy-free.

Woohoo!





So…yay, for three consecutive weeks of some fun kitchen time with my babies. We’ll probably be on a hiatus for a week or two during our upcoming grandparent visits, but I’m hoping to sneak in at least one more round before school begins since it’s been such a joy. :)
