Dance Recital Costumes—2022!

Well, peeps.

Spring is fully underway. The trees are full of leaves, the grass is greening, the allergies abound, and…dance recital costumes have arrived!

Chica’s recital number this year is a tap dance set to Footloose, tehe (she always has the luck of really fun songs!). She has an incoming skirt that was backordered and will arrive soon—woohoo!

And this stinking 50’s-style cutie pie (who looks so beautiful in this mint color) is doing an upbeat ballet number set to a mashup of Rockin’ Robin and Happy Days, ha. TRES adorable.

Now.

As beautiful as these costumes are—not to mention the girlies wearing them (biased Mama alert), I must admit to a MASSIVE parental fail:

For the first time in six years of dance lessons, the hubby and I totally spaced on the recital date and booked a major family vacation that will prevent the girlies from performing (insert cringe-worthy WHOOPSIE DAISIES).

Alas.

It’s really really hard to feel badly about the missed recital when our fivesome is REALLY pumped about this upcoming family vacay (more deets to come) that’s meant to be a celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary.

In the grand scheme of things, I think it’s okay to let a family trip in honor of two decades of marriage trump a 45 minute dance recital. Just this once. Yes??

Luckily, there are no hard feelings from anyone. The girlies didn’t blink twice when I broke the news, and I only felt terrible for about five minutes. We’ll all just keep on keepin’ on with the dance fun, and remember that it’s all about a healthy and lively activity throughout the year, and not about a single recital event or any major pressure.

At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. ;)

Love my cutie pies and I hope they keep up with the extra-curriculars they enjoy for a long time to come. It’s hard to believe that all our lessons and commitments are starting to wind down for the school year. And registration for the fall is already upon us!

Man, how a school year flies.

We’re certainly entering the beginning of the home stretch, and I’m not at all mad about it. :)

In fact, I’m gearing up to throw the final class party of the school year on Thursday, as part of my room representative duties for Little Man’s kindergarten crew. It’s been a heavy month of to-dos on that front, with some fundraising responsibilities, as well. But as with everything else, it will peak and then start to wind down soooooon!

Happy Tuesday, peeps!

Over and out.

P.S. For kicks and giggles (and some tears over how much my babies have grown!), here are some links to just a few of our past recitals. :)
