As I mentioned a couple days ago…the kiddos were R-E-A-D-Y and anxiously awaiting our Leaf’s arrival. In fact, one might say they were chomping at the bit, ha.
In fact, they begged to write Santa letters and get them in the mail, as that’s usually the secret to luring our mischievous elf to our casa. ;)
And sure enough…within 48 hours, it worked!
Leaf typically arrives via hot air balloon, and this year, he came down the chimney…
But the MAJOR news is that he brought along a furry friend this year!
Say, “hello,” to our new family “pet.” Ha.
The kiddos—and Chicklet, in particular—haven’t given up their campaign for a real, live pet. And though that ain’t happenin’ any time soon, Leaf the Elf empathized with their plight and brought along a puppy to enjoy our house this holiday season. :)
The kiddos were absolutely tickled. It was a really fun diversion, tehe.
Better yet, they get to snuggle and cuddle our new puppy! Which, as you might now, is a BIG deal, as you can’t touch Scout Elves, or they lose their magic.
Little Man actually ran upstairs right away to find a blanket…also known as a spare pillowcase, ha.
And already started in on the snuggles as we brainstormed a name.
Once the decision was made (after putting name options in a hat and drawing one out), we recorded everything all official-like in our family book that explains the importance of Elf Pets.
Drum roll, puh-lease.
I give you…
HOLLY!
Our official puppy for the next couple of weeks. :)
Chicklet kept Holly close during homework, and carried her around the house for an official tour afterwards.
And everyone was quite jolly over the fun, new household addition.
And many, many times this evening—particularly late evening, after the kiddos had gotten in trouble, within earshot of Leaf (ruh roh)—I caught Chicklet talking to him. Likely pleading her behavioral case, ha.
It really is so sweet to see this imaginative, magic fun still in action, as I wasn’t sure how it would go this year. We’re going to be grateful for every last drop we can get!
Oh! And Holly has a special collar with a barrel that captures kindness and joy to fuel the Christmas spirit (and Santa’s sleigh). So there’s an added benefit to having her around! It’s all explained in the sweet little book we read.
