She and I spent the best stretch of one-on-one reading time both yesterday and today…finishing the second Harry book! Woohoo!
Reading these books out loud with my babies over the past several years has been the biggest joy.
I had no idea when I began the journey with Chica that it would span so many years and continue across all three kiddos. But I’m here for it!
I have no clue if the younger two will make it through the end of the series without aging up enough to branch out and read on their own, but Chica is firm about continuing together (only a book and a half left!) and I love the quality time it creates.
Of course, my very favorite for any of these read-out-louds is the homestretch of the final few chapters.
I purposefully time it so we have a looooong while to read the climax of the adventure and then the wind-down to the end, all in one marathon sitting.
And for Chicklet and I, that final marathon was today. :)
It’s the absolute best to act out all the voices, holler and scream and play up all the drama—the scary, the fun, the emotional, and everything in between.
In fact, if any neighbors happened to be out and about this morning, they might have worried about what was going on inside our casa, ha. It was priceless. And my voice is kinda destroyed this evening, ha.
With each kiddo I have a slightly different end-of-book tradition. No surprise: Chicklet receives a stuffed animal. Fawkes the Phoenix, this time (who, of course, plays a major roll at the end of book two).
She was besotted with Fawkes—mostly because I busted him out right as the action got intense, and then she used him to act out a ton of parts as we were reading, hehe.

I know my days are totally numbered on the stuffed animal front. Chicklet has such a beautiful imagination, but even she will age out. Eventually. So it was extra special to see how hysterically she brought Fawkes along on our other activities today.
Eating lunch…
Off to swimming…
And literally everything and everywhere in between.

She’s ready to launch the third book, stat. And we’ll absolutely dive in. But considering Chica’s summer goal of finishing book six, and the catch-up time I need to devote to Little Man so he can also finished book two…we’ve got a lot of reading to do!
But that’s the best kind of challenge.
Bring it on!
Happy Harry Tuesday, peeps!
Over and out.
