Monday Science Fun Day—Crunch Labs Coin Spinner!

Okay, peeps.

As promised in my last post, heeeeere’s our second delivery and completion of our Crunch Labs fun. Woohoo!

I give you, the coin spinner!

If you want to read the whole background regarding these weekly projects that will be our Monday Science Fun Days for the foreseeable future (but often not on a Monday, ha), check this previous post:

In the meantime, all you need to know is that we’re getting our STEM-learning time in, we’re really enjoying building these fun engineering-based crafts, and we’re so excited to have nine more of them coming down the pipeline. :)

Also, I lurv this sister pic:

Serious look of concentration below from Little Man. Love it.

We spent so much time testing out and optimizing our coin spinners. :)

Hysterically, I think this is the only pic where you can actually see the coin spinning beside Little Man’s device.

The project is built with a fun lever that launches the coin off the platform using a ratchet (our engineering term for the day).

Ironically, the hubby is the master coin spinner with just his own skills and his wedding ring (and we learned all about the science behind a ring spinning faster than a coin because of the mass distribution), so the real fun came in testing out his skills versus the coin spinner, hehe.

So grateful for this outlet to keep our science brains going.

It’s going to be a really useful diversion to keep the STEM sides of our brains going through the end of the summer.

Happy Weekend, peeps!

Over and out.
