Zombie Ice Cream Doodle!

Okay, peeps.

This is our doodle from yesterday…

Which is pretty hysterically on point, as that’s how my head felt yesterday—and not just because we have a new puppy, ha.

Thanks to some terrible timing from the universe, I had a cyst removed from the top of my head on Monday. And, YUP, it was about as terrible, awful, and wildly unpleasant as I’d anticipated.

Sooooo many needles, and a really, really uncomfortable process of removal and stitches. UGH.

Hysterically, they placed a giant glop of Vaseline on the incision site afterwards, so my hair looked like the kind of hot mess you might imagine—and still does, ha.

Now on Day 3, we’ve progressed to the point of insane scalp tightness, but we’ll get through it, ha.

Anywho…doodling.

I’ve mentioned in the past how often I miss spending quality time with my boy in the afternoons on school days.

I know that probably sounds insane, but it’s just logistics.

He can mostly complete his homework alone, and the girlies have far more to tackle—along with much heavier extra-curriculars (for Chica, specifically), so I often get Little Man for a fleeting after-school snack and round of how was your day? before he’s flitting off to play upstairs. Oye.

So Tuesday night, after another day where he didn’t get nearly enough of my time (also of note: now Coda is dividing my time and attention further!), I asked Little Man if we could spend some quality time together after school. Something of his choosing. And he decided on a doodle—which, of course, made my heart so stinking happy. :)

Of course, we had some slightly more complicated logistics to content with. An artistic “helper,” if you will…

But Chicklet, who prefers to be a doodle observer most days, was a fantastic puppy-sitter. :)

Not gonna lie: I had a moment yesterday mid-afternoon when I cried a tiny bit over this heaping new puppy responsibility I’ve taken on. I’m absolutely vacillating between the sheer and tremendous JOY of it all…and a bit of despondency over the free agency I’ve lost for the moment.

Alas, this puppy phase will be fleeting, and our Coda bundle is so stinking cute that she warms my heart to no end. But I’ll be keeping an ever closer eye on making sure I’m giving my human kiddos the time and attention they need—and it was a happy thing to tackle this Little Man-driven doodle. :)

In other yesterday news…our Coda had her first appointment with her new vet (!) and is perfectly healthy—at a whopping 2.4 pounds, ha.

She was a champ through more vaccinations, and we’ll keep trucking along until her next visit, in about three weeks. :)

HAPPY HUMP DAY, peeps!

Might try for another quick post if I have time!

Over and out.
