Chica’s Spooktacular & School Dance!

Okay, peeps.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks with our little fur ball and alllll the illness—plus Halloween!—but there have been a couple of sweet little milestones for Chica that I don’t want to pass by.

Despite her sick ick over the past couple of days, my girl rallied for school today and better still: she was able to attend the 6th grade dance that was right after school today. :)

It goes without saying that it’s a whoolllle process to dress a tween for something like this, especially when the school makes it a 50’s themed situation. Oye.

That said, we got so lucky with it overthinking things too much. Chica didn’t want to go too retro, and remember the fit and flare cut of a dress she wore last year for family pictures, so we just did a quick bit of googling, and…voila!

The dress came in so many colors, and she picked this gorgeous raspberry pink. We ordered it in two sizes and hit the jackpot with one. Amen, Halleluiah!

She met up with a couple of friends on the way to the dance, and spent her time there with her core group of 6-8 really solid friends. They danced, they munched on candy, and they came home smiling and happy.

How are they so much more well-adjusted than I was at their age??? ;)

In other Chica milestone news…she had her Fall orchestra concert last week. It was a themed “Spooktacular” concert and she had the option of wearing something festive. She and one of her besties marched in Hocus Pocus shirts, and we’re so stinking adorable.

It is such a joy to see how she’s progressing with her violin—and the most important thing is that it brings her joy. :)

I’m soooo grateful for my girl’s general stability of temperament right now, and her dedication to allllll the activities on her plate this year. She’s handling it with such grace, and we’re doing our best to keep it low-stress and as fun as possible.

So far, so good!

More mañana, peeps!

Over and out.
