It’s after midnight, so technically…MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know I’m not alone when I say: what a whirlwind this season can be! This year, particularly, for our crew.
I suppose in keeping with the whirlwind spirit…we made the last-minute decision (as in, yesterday) to buy tickets to a Christmas Eve matinee performance WICKED!
Yes, THAT Wicked!
Yep—that’s Nanna appearing in some pics!
Just as I remembered from a decade ago, the performance was so amazing and entertaining and funny. The kiddos were super attentive and it was a JOY to finally—and so spur-of-the-moment!—experience this musical as a family. :)
Yes, THAT Wicked!
The hubby and I were fortunate enough to catch this incredible show about a decade ago, in Dallas, and it’s long been a dream of ours to take the kiddos. We just needed the stars to align—and for our crazies to age up enough!
I didn’t even know this show was in town until about 72 hours ago, when one of my friends mentioned it. I can’t even believe our luck that we managed to snag these tickets—all together, no less. It was meant to be, for sure.
Since living here in San Antonio, we’ve never been to the Majestic Theater, and I gotta say, it was amazing. So much character and detail. Definitely the type of unique and awe-inspiring architectural surrounding you want for a show like this.
I’ll stop babbling for a second and just share a bunch of photos…

The other set of grandparents were with us until yesterday, and then we did a switcheroo with Nanna arriving last night.
I gotta tell ya, the kiddos are getting so spoiled having all the people they love around them. The best kind of spoiled, though, for sure. :)
It’s so wild that the vibrant blue “sky” in these photos makes the theater appear open-roofed, but that’s just the amazing ceiling that even has moving clouds and stars projected above. So cool.
As a side note: the kiddos experienced TSwift and The Eras tour as their first ever concert, and now Wicked as their first ever musical. I fear we’re setting the bar over-the-top high, and there’s nowhere to go but down, ha.

As luck would have it, we exited out a side door with an awesome transportation van just outside. It made for excellent photos, ha.
Random, but it NEVER GETS OLD seeing my babies with their noses in books. This was while we were waiting for the hubby to retrieve the car:
Thank heavens I had the foresight to make our yummy lasagna last night to make for an easier Christmas Eve meal. It was delish, and not much was needed beyond baking it—and then some Santa cookies!
That kind of delish but locked-and-loaded meal was just the ticket so we could make it to our evening candlelight church service.
You can tell my babies were pretty tired by the time that pic was taken afterwards, but it was a beautiful service with wonderful music.

We so often allow the hustle and bustle of this amazing but chaotic season to overshadow the fact that: JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. I’m so happy we ended our day with this—before a rowdy return home and late (late, late!) bedtime.
So much more mañana, but I’m grateful for a Christmas Eve full of life and music and family.
MERRY EARLY CHRISTMAS, peeps!
Over and out.
