Holiday Teacher Gifts—Candy Sleighs!

Okay, peeps.

It’s been a pretty wonky couple of days. Just weird and worrisome vibes. :(

First, an erroneous school district safety issue yesterday, and then, some really tricky travel complications older bro is experiencing with our mom in Switzerland and surrounding areas right now.

All is well—or will be, eventually—but it’s been a mentally taxing couple of days, so it was comforting to tackle a project on my To Do List that also centered me a bit in my happy place.

I give you this year’s Holiday Teacher Gifts: Candy Sleighs!

I really really adore how they turned out. Honestly, even better than I hoped, as I was worried they might not actually look like sleighs, ha. But they totally do!

Inspiration struck when I was googling for ideas. It’s always my intention to gift the kiddos’ teachers with, well, gift cards. But I try my very best to present them in creative ways. Like our gift card Christmas trees of years’ past, or last year’s snowmen:

This year, I found these sleigh variations online and knew if would be a fun challenge:

Plus, if you’ll recall, “slay” has sort of been a catchphrase in our household this year—not to mention, Chica’s holiday shirt theme, ha. So a little sleigh/slay seemed like just what 2023 needed (though, to be fair, Chica recently shared that the “slay” usage has died down; you heard it here, first):

I mean, just look how fun!

When I went to the grocery store yesterday to gather up all the candy supplies, the cashier said, “someone either has a sweet tooth or is having a party.” Both and neither! ;)

I love all the little details I was able to add—like these bells for the back…

I mean, just look how adorable they are from behind!

I’m hoping they’re structurally sound enough to handle the trip to school. I’ve secured the gift cards with ribbon to make sure they don’t get lost in any shuffle. The other items are hot glued and fairly sturdy, but…time will tell, ha.

Truly, the possibilities are endless in terms of the specific candy elements you could use to create your own sleigh structure. Just like in the examples I found online. But I really, really dig these, and I’m so happy they turned out so stinking cute. :)

Grateful for this crafting diversion that doubled as a To Do List item marked off the list!

Also grateful for a family movie this afternoon. :)

And now, I’m hoping for a positive day mañana.

Happy Saturday, peeps!

Over and out.
