First Day of School—2024!

Holy. Moly.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!

How are we already here?!!!

School has launched.

My three crazy kids are in it to win it.

Summer has come and gone.

It’s wild.

And speaking of wild…this is my beloved Chicklet’s final year of elementary. She’s an ancient 5th grader, now!

I honestly can’t wrap my head around it.

More notably, I can’t wrap my head around the astronomical growth and change she will experience over the next two, critical years.

But I’ve seen it happen before my own eyes with my eldest, and I know we’re at the precipice of that chasm, yet again with my second-born.

Little Man will just have to deal with me holding on a little bit tighter before he, too, reaches that point of no return!

Also hard to believe, since it kind of feels like she always been with us: it was Coda puppy’s first day of school, tehe. :)

And doesn’t she just make ever picture cuter???

I’m so grateful to report that all my kiddos were stable heading into the school year. In fact, it was the most low-key Meet The Teacher night (last Thursday) that we’ve ever experienced.

It was wild to think back on last year, when Chica was so anxious attending the middle school open house for the first time. And, now, she’s an old pro!

She even unlocked a whole new level this year, making it to the third floor for Honors Math! I legit walked by a student with a mustache and was like: nope, you’ve all got to stop getting bigger and older.

In other amazing aging news: Chica has now grown comfortable enough to wear her glorious hair down all the time.

She faced an eerily identical self-conscious stage as her dear mother (that would be me) and had real issues with letting her hair down (I’m actually not speaking metaphorically, ha), until these past few months.

I’m so stinking proud of her for growing comfortable and free in her own skin—and hair. It’s incredible to watch her settle into her beautiful sense of self.

And speaking of growing comfortable…these younger two were such veterans at their own Back To School night that it felt like their millionth school year of elementary.

Chicklet had such a challenging fourth grade year that I spent much of the summer diligently praying for a positive classroom teacher and assortment of students. And all signs point to us knocking it out of the park on all fronts!

My girl was ecstatic to learn that one particular friend was in class with her this year, and it truly set a bubbly, happy tone. Better still, she’s got amazing teachers. Woohoo!

And another woohoo! for snow cones on a blistering evening.

Coda puppy was literally howling this morning, trying to greet the teachers (and Principal, who she loves) at drop off this morning, so now she’s passed out, sprawled across my legs, and I’m about to say goodnight, as well.

It’s always a whole thing to make it through these first few weeks of the school year, but all signs point toward good days ahead!

Happy First Day of School, peeps!

Over and out.
