Friends And (Seashell) Frames!

Man, peeps.

For once, we had a CHILL day, today.

Honestly, it was a Friday that felt like a Saturday, and I can’t tell you how heavenly that was, considering how busy we’ve been.

This week was defined by allllll the summer routine things, which meant some annoying summer school work I forced on my kiddos, a bunch of their extra-curriculars bracketing the mornings and evenings, and…friend time. Lots and lots of friend time.

With schedules so wonky during June and July and lots of people out of town, we try to do our best to arrange hang time when we’re available—and, honestly, these days, I tend to try to cluster these get-together, especially if we’re hosting, so we can make the most of tidying up the house and supervising after extra humans.

Yesterday’s round of friend time involved food, movie time and a project I’d been wanting to tackle for some time, so we could make the use out of this haul of seashells we’ve been accumulating from a handful of trips.

I really love how they turned out!

The buddies we had over are close friends and won’t be upset if you care enough to zoom in to their teeny tiny faces in the pictures of the picture frames, ha. But I’ll still do my thing and cover their faces for the other pics. ;)

This was the online inspiration that sparked the idea…

The kiddos painted first thing once they all arrived, to give time for things to dry and assemble…

With pauses for pizza and movie breaks, naturally…

And snuggling…

But as timed it just right to be able to let the paint—and glitter!—dry enough to glue everything together in the end. I think they ended up so cute—and with a fun smattering of color choices across each kiddo’s particular frame.

So, yay for a happy craft, and happier hang time with friends.

And happiest of all that things didn’t feel so rushed, today, and that we have a whole weekend ahead of us!

Happy Friday, peeps!

Over and out.
