Day two! Another beautiful, stormy-sunny day in our beloved Breckenridge!
The hubby and I started with one of our glorious morning walks for coffee, then we rallied the kiddos and tried (emphasis on tried) to wait in line for the amazing alpine coaster at Epic Discovery, but—yep, you guessed it—rain! Or, more specifically: lightning. Within a 10-mile radius so the lifts and rides were shut down and we diverted to other plans. Namely…shopping in between stints of rain!
Of course, by the time we’d visited a handful of our favorite shops (there are lots!) the sun was shining again and we realized we needed to high-tail it back up the mountain to try the alpine slide again while the skies were clear.
Irony of all ironies…we were in line for just a handful of minutes before another lightning strike shut the whole thing down—again.
We were fortunate enough to receive a refund so we could try another day, and diverted again—this time, to food!
Unfortunately, the skies full-on opened up and we were lucky enough to make it to our favorite pizza place to wait out the weather and enjoy some of our favorite food.
By the time we left—and visited the site of Little Man’s chest scar from climbing a tree—things had cleared up (are you sensing the theme, here; yo-yo weather?)
And, look! They took their own selfie that doubled the number of pics I managed of Chicklet so far that day, ha.
We wandered and shopped and wandered and snacked some more, until Chicklet and Little Man tapped out, had.
But Chica tagged along for a bonus round of walking and shopping—and picking up to-go dinner.
And when the weather turned—yet again again—we stopped at a lovely lookout point and snapped some broody clouds and (more) rainbow pics, because one can never have too many. :)
It’s truly been our first Colorado round with such volatile weather, but it’s kind of been awesome—and fleeting, and another beautiful day up here in the mountains.
More later, peeps!
Over and out.
