I've mentioned before that Baby Girl likes to lick things these days. Doesn't matter what. Her sheets, her burp cloths, her blankets, her play mat--she doesn't discriminate. Which leads me to believe she's part cat. And today, my little Kid-dy Cat had to go to the doctor for her two-month-old appointment and her S.H.O.T.s (yep, I've been spelling it out when I say it, even though my kiddo clearly can't spell).
While she was stripped and waiting for the doctor to come in the room, I held her in my arms to keep her warm. And here's what she did:
For the record, she was not hungry. I repeat: not hungry. She'd just nursed about 40 minutes prior to this. The little hilarious booger just likes to lick everything. Gotta love it.
When she wasn't in my arms while we were waiting, she was hanging out on the exam table, being her cute, smiling self.
Poor thing had no idea what was coming. But she handled the shots like a champ. Screamed bloody murder for about 20 seconds (even going super-sonic-quiet in that scary way they can do), but then she stopped. And about a minute later, once I had her dressed, she even gave me some more smiles.
The rest of the day went pretty much like this:
She slept.
Then slept some more.
And, well...you get the idea.
And then, she finally woke up and acted a little fragile. But it was nothing a soothing bath and some play time on her beloved changing table didn't help. And she managed to hold it together until Daddy came home, 'cause she just loves her Daddy.
She's sleeping in her bumblebee pajamas tonight, which seemed pretty appropriate since she got "stung" today. The pediatrician said not to be surprised if she sleeps through the night on account of the shots/ Baby Tylenol combo. In fact, she said she'd actually had parents call in the day after shots wondering if they could have some more just to get another night's sleep. What a riot.
P.S. My little Kid-dy Cat totally shocked me by weighing in at 9 pounds, 14 ounces! I was way under in my guess! She's still just in the 20th percentile with that weight, but she's in the 80th percentile with a length of 23 inches. Woo-hoo!
