I usually love Wednesdays.
My sweet Baby Girl was born on a Wednesday. And the following Wednesday just happened to be the 4th of July. So, of course, I considered it my American duty to dress up my kid and snap a ton of patriotic pictures. 'Cause what's more fun than staging hilarious photo ops and trying to get your newborn to cooperate?
Naturally, after that first week of photo fun, a new tradition was born. Every Wednesday, Baby Girl and I wake up, nurse, have some fun playing up on the changing table, and then dress up and snap the weekly pics. I really do love it. And I think she sorta does, too:
But today, things were much different.
I think this photo says it all:
My poor, sweet, Baby Girl is a little worse for the wear today. She's congested. And I suspect she has a sore throat to go along with that congestion, and I'm praying, praying, no ear infection.
She needed lots of extra cuddles today, and even then, it was a pretty tough one. After a call to my pediatrician's on-call nurse, I made a trip to the store to buy a new humidifier, and I started a regimen of saline drops followed by that torture device of a bulbous booger-sucker-uper that just breaks my heart. It feels like I'm water-boarding my poor, fragile infant every time I have to lean her back and let those drops go with gravity. Booooo.
Here's hoping she's feeling a little better tomorrow. But if she's not, I'll give her even more love and cuddles and pray it passes quickly.
