We really, really love our location at the top of a cul-de-sac. When all construction on the street is completed in the next few months, it's going to be so peaceful and quiet (and actually, even with the ongoing construction, it's pretty dang peaceful). I'm pumped about Chica having a safe spot to play, and though you can't tell in the picture above, we ended up with an oddly large, split-level front yard, so that's pretty fun for her, too.
Here's the front door--and no, you don't need to adjust your monitor. It's grey/blue. And so are the shutters. 'Cause we're rebels like that :)
Beyond the happy location of the cul-de-sac, we fell in love with the idea of building this house because of the neighborhood. It has such a wonderful, established, wooded feel that you just don't get down in Texas much. Much of that is due to the fact that the whole front of the neighborhood contains houses that have been there for 20+ years. Only the back contains a handful of undeveloped lots. So there are gobs and gobs of mature trees, and a be-a-uuutiful pond with a trail around it that Chica and I finally got to go explore today!
It's about an eight minute walk from our house to the pond, and I gotta tell ya, along the way, I was smiling like a freaking fool and waving at every new neighbor and car that passed by. I was overcome with the unbelievable scents of Fall that, quite frankly, I haven't been privy to for years and years, given our old neighborhood that lacked this kind of foliage.
Even Chica was enamored with the crunchy leaves :)
She seriously couldn't get enough.
The fountain was enough to have her giggling with excitement.
And then when Max the dog passed by with his owner and she got to love on him a bit, I literally thought she might burst with joy.
I think she's really, really going to enjoy the community and all it has to offer. And Mama's really, really going to enjoy keeping her from nose-diving straight into the pond.
And on days like tomorrow, when it's too brrrrrrr cold to venture down there, we'll hang in the playroom on the new cozy couch that arrived today!
More pics as things get settled.
Here's hoping everyone stays warm tomorrow, wherever they may be.
