Truthfully, we’ve been in a bit of a weekend rut in our casa.
Well, not so much a rut as just a lazy cocoon of awesomeness, ha.
We’ve just been having a really hard time getting motivated to get out of our pajamas, and with some revolving door germs that have kept us slightly quarantined, as well, we just needed to shake things up.
And what better way to clear out the lungs and refresh the spirit than to get outdoors and enjoy one of our favorite excursions!
Dallas, San Diego, Cheyenne Mountain, Tulsa, Denver…we lurv a good zoo. And we’ve had so many happy family experiences at some lovely ones.
And today was no exception.
The temps were crisp, the crowds were sparse, and the smiles were a-plenty. It was seriously so easy breezy to have the run of the place, free to explore all the nooks and crannies that we usually avoid, and to navigate without sweating or getting overstimulated by any hustle and bustle.
All was good and happy and JUST what the doctor ordered!

And then one became two…
Two became three…
Three became four…
And four became five. :) All my loves.
Now. This next part was the absolute highlight of our visit today, and something we’d never done: lorikeet feeding!
Ironically, we just watched one of our beloved Crikey episodes that involved a whole slew of lorikeets in need of desperate help after a storm. So the kiddos were quite aware of these vibrant birds, and it was such a treat to let them perch all over us that Chica deemed it a “lifetime experience” afterwards and thanked us profusely. :)
SO grateful for our happy family outing today, and the extra pep it put back in our step.
Next Saturday, we have a little birthday party to attend, so I think I can safely say that we might’ve made it through this January slump of ours. Not that we ever mind slumpin’ it at home. ;)
