Finished Honeycomb Shelves!

Okay, peeps. Are you ready to see some lovely nursery shelves???

Drum roll, puh-lease...

And...applause :)

Who-hoo!

If you'll recall, when last I left you, the shelves had posed somewhat of a challenge in the hanging department (to say the least). But we (ahem, the hubby--with my unwavering support), conquered the beast, and I'm soooo pleased we did, because I just love how they turned out!

So a little recap. We found these honeycomb shelves we loved but they came in sections of three combs, like this:

And we wanted more, so we grouped them together, like this:

But I decided I wanted to add a bit of flair, since Baby Boy's room will be mostly grey and white. So when I saw what Land of Nod had done with the shelves in one of their online pictures, my heart did a little pitter-pat.

Basically, they backed the shelves with paper or wallpaper or something of the sort, and it turned them into such a cool wall feature. So I decided to replicate the idea.

A few weeks ago, we made a family trip to Michael's to select a bunch of cool, coordinating, yet varied papers. Then I traced, cut, and adhered to the back of the shelves, and--miracle of all miracles--it worked exactly as I'd hoped!

It's hard to tell from these pics, but some of the papers are textured, some have a little shimmer--all so cool and they work so well together.

I just love, love, love.

And, of course, so do our girlies, who were such big helpers (wink, wink).

It's almost a shame these shelves are on the wall just inside the bedroom, so you don't see them until you're standing in the interior.

But...they will be my beautiful view as I'm sitting in the glider (and keeping an eye on the girls in the playroom beyond the room), and that's pretty awesome sauce.

Not sure what, if anything, will go on the shelves, as they're fairly shallow. But I'm sure when we come across something worthy, it will take a place of honor and give the shelves even more character :)

So glad to have the project completed. Crib and glider arrive Wednesday--woohoo!
