Hello, Giraffes

Time for a little nursery update :) Seems like a good thing for a lovely Friday evening.

The major new addition to the room is the wall decal that adds a bit more flair to the fairly simplistic vision we always tend to go for in the kids' rooms.

Hellooooo, sweet (and modern-ish looking) giraffe friends!

When I originally found these giraffes online, I intended for them to be the only thing on that wall. But that was when I'd envisioned the room as only grey and white. And, of course, we've since added a bit more color along the aqua and blue spectrum (after the success of our fun honeycomb shelves).

So...a branch with some fun, 3-D card stock leaves felt pretty natural.

When I ordered the leaves from an Etsy vendor, I mistakingly thought they were much larger, so when they arrived, and I started playing with them, I decided to cluster them in threes.

I'm good with their smaller size, even clustered, because I never intended for them to be a focal point. Just a little something fun.

And luckily, the colors tie in great with the shelves :)

And even more importantly, Chica gave them her stamp of approval when she woke and found them added to the wall one morning. (And for the record, Chicklet loves the giraffes).

The day after I took these pics, the nightstand finally arrived. Woohoo! (Hello, beautiful elephant lamp.)

I'm still dying for three other major elements (all back ordered--argh!) to arrive.

Ottoman for the glider (a fun, woven pouf) should arrive within two weeks.

Next up--the most questionable item that I'll definitely need to see in the room. The rug. I've already ordered and returned two, so I'm hoping third time's the charm. Went out on a limb with this third selection so it could either succeed or fail spectacularly.

And last--but soooo not least!--the dresser to match the crib might not get here much sooner than Baby Boy. Oye. We're debating whether to go ahead and hang the mirror that we purchased before or after the dresser's arrival. So stay tuned.

Can't wait for everything to finally be in place, but I'm so glad I'm a bit more mellow with the third baby. If we were missing this many pieces so close to the birth with the first child--heaven help us!

Luckily, experience has taught me we can survive with the basics and appreciate the rest when it comes. And more than that, it's not lost on me what a luxury it is to be able to create another happy space for one of my children. We're a blessed family in so many ways.

HAPPY WEEKEND, peeps!
