Cheers To The Small Things

So...about a week ago, I sort of came to a conclusion that we--and I'm using the royal "we" here, on behalf of our household--need to de-stress a bit.

Please note: no significant meltdown led to this minor epiphany. Just a snowballing sort of feeling that little things--schedules, worries, constant juggling, routine changes--have added up to more tiny stresses than I wanna hang onto.

So.

We're just gonna be CHILL.

From now 'till Thanksgiving.

And I'm happy to report that I think God is on board with this plan, as we've had a lovely and low-key week around our casa, and I already feel a bit more mental freedom as a result.

And, honestly, it's the best time of year to embrace the mental chill, 'cause there are a gazillion things to bring joy, if you just let the crazy fall away so you can focus on it.

Like...

The new Starbucks holiday cups:

(First Confession: I feel the irrational need to sip from all 13 before the season's out).

(Second Confession: that's a caramel apple spice Chica's holding; I haven't willfully given my four-year-old espresso. Yet.)

Or the aisles of ornament wonders in Hobby Lobby:

Or the fake Christmas cookies we busted out in place of the regular ones:

Or my Little Man's blue eyes and crazy awesome hair--and newfound gibber jabber as he tries to form words:

I'm glad to feel a bit looser this week, and I hope it mentally lasts!

Over and out, peeps.
