Seasonal Switcheroo

Oh my freaking goodness, it's really really real now!

Fall. Is. Coming.

Like, immediately, if not sooner.

Of course, some schools already started this week, and Chica's big kindergarten day is on the 28th. And then there's the 1st of September, because--screw the official equinox--once you can say it's September, it's so not Summer anymore. And the final nail in the coffin is the Labor Day marker...which is looming on the very real horizon.

Gahhhhh!

But if those major dealios aren't enough collective signs of our seasonal shift, here are a few more:

1. The kiddos completed their summer swim lessons yesterday--and got their ribbons to show for it. Woohoo! Sooooo proud of my little fish (correction: Chica says they're sharks, not fish, ha.)

2. In other splash-related news--we set our end date for our pool membership while we were there today. Waaaaaah. This one always hurts. Like, bad. But I suppose the fun of summer swimming is that it's, well, just in the summer.

3. We made a visit to a little wonderland I like to call Hobby Lobby, and the girlies were so enamored with all the Fall decor that Chica proclaimed, "this is paradise!" And of course, she flung her arms out wide for emphasis. I die.

Us girly girls could've stayed there for hours, but Little Man was, ahem, difficult. Especially when I took "his" phone to snap a couple of pictures.

Oh well, I'll win him over eventually. They all cave sooner or later, muhahahaha.

As a reward for being so good for me, the girlies got to select $1.99 rewards, hehe...

4. Due to the awesomesauce Hobby Lobby excursion, we bought goods to make a new Fall wreath, and found some super-cute door mats that even Daddy can appreciate. ;)

We started with just a bare straw breath, and added a garland of leaves...

Then sunflowers and shimmery leaves in beautiful metallic colors...

Then more shimmery glittery leaves (the pictures don't really do them justice)...

We get a kick out of making most of our wreaths--and get the added bonus of slashing the price of the finished product in half (most of the time, unless we get carried away, ha).

And because I was inspired by the new wreath and mats, I ponied up and trimmed our giant privet bushes near our front door today (hello, heat exhaustion since I'm an idiot and did it during nap time). The privets are hearty as all get-out (which equals awesome in my book!), but would for sure eat our entire house, if given the opportunity to run wild, ha.

5. And lastly, because this cuteness might kill ya, I've saved it for last...we got our first Halloween costume catalogue last week (Pottery Barn Kids), and the girlies adore flipping through it. So when we ran errands yesterday, we just happened to pop by to check some out in person.

Last year, Chicklet was too young to have opinions, but she definitely selected a fave from the catalogue. Drum roll, puh-lease...

Yup.

We all die.

She wants to be the (cutest) red dragon in the world, ha.

No clue if she'll change her mind, and I'm desperate to have just one more Halloween where we can dress as one themed family (not jiving with Chica's leopard and mermaid preferences, ha). So we're gonna let these ideas simmer...and have one heck of a fun time trying tons of things on!

Yay, for the impending seasonal change.

(And I'll save my hormonal slump when school starts for later, ha.)

Over and out, peeps!
