Orlando 2018–Day 4

Oh. My. Stinking. Goodness.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, since I expected today to be a total and complete beatdown, but we had such a wonderful time at Magic Kingdom!

Like, truly, a wonderful time. Not just the kind that you remember with too-rosy glasses after-the-fact.

In numbers:

We managed 8.5 hours at the park! (What?! Amazing!)

We went on 7 rides.

We saw one show (at the castle).

We sat and rejeuvinated our soles for 1 entire lunch.

We only had 1 half-hour of meltdown-ish behavior.

We bought 3 happy, happy, joy, joy bubble wands.

We hauled 2 stuffed animals home to live with us.

We consumed 1,728 pounds of sugar.

But that’s okay, because we logged 485 miles (I kid).

I mean, we seriously did a bang-up job (in my humble opinion) for a family with three kiddos ages five and under. I’m wildly impressed.

And I owe it all to a bit of organization, and the gloriousness of Fast Passes (that meant we never stood in a line longer than 10 minutes!).

I mean, we left the park with still-smiling, non-complaining kiddos!

Did I say amazing?

Okay. Enough blabbing. Now for the onslaught of pics with only tiny commentary.

It was raining when we arrived, but we just rolled with it!

Lots o’ smiles and sillies on the ferry ride to the park...

We made it inside the park and literally went straight to the first ride I Fast Passed (Thunder Mountain Railroad).

I assumed my adventure-loving Chicklet would be all over a ride like this, but her face in this pic, just before launching onto the railroad roller coaster, pretty much says it all...

Not gonna lie—it was a wild ride. And Chicklet was not a fan. During the ride, her commentary got worse and worse (and I struggled not to acknowledge the humor of it, ha.

“This is not fun.”

“This is not awesome.”

“I don’t like this!”

“It’s making my tummy feel bad!”

Poor, poor, Chicklet. And a Mommy Fail. She apparently takes after her Daddy in the preference for tamer rides (at least at this stage, ha). Duly noted for the remainder of the day.

On the other hand, my Chica totally surprised me by being the thrill-seeker of the bunch! She was all over the rides.

After Thunder Mountain Railroad, we headed to the Magic Carpet Ride, that all three kiddos could enjoy (with no terror, ha).

I was soooo happy when Chicklet hollered, “this is not scary; this is fun!” Whew.

Next up—Godmother, Chica and I braved the awesome Splash Mountain...

Then we wandered over to climb the Robinson Crusoe treehouse just before our lunch reservation (and dodged the next—and last!—wave of rain while we ate).

Oh, and you see those giant lollipops in the next pic???
They are brought to you courtesy of our “yes day.”

I told the hubby going into this theme park day that I was just going to answer yes to everything to keep morale up and frustrations low. And it totally helped! It was a funny and fantastic mindset that didn’t require much but some candy, ice cream, bubble wands and stuffed souvenir friends. ;)

The kiddos all luuuurved the castle and really wanted to go inside, so we keep gravitating in that direction...

And ended up right in front of the castle at the start of a great little song-and-dance show that totally mesmerized the kiddos (who woulda thunk?).

Olaf! Elsa! Anna! We heart you.

Next up was the Tomorrowland Speedway where everybody drove. (And Chicklet claimed she won, even though it wasn’t a race, ha.)

I mean, could he match his car any better?? ;)

Then back to the castle to finally wander inside...only to confirm there was nothing really inside (if you didn’t have special dine-with-characters or princess-makeover reservation)...

Then some sword in the stone on our way to the carousel...

As you can see, it turned into a gorgeous afternoon!

Then another pass by the castle, hehe (did I mention we were fans of the castle?)...

Then over to the Barnstormer—a slower, shorter roller coaster that all the kiddos enjoyed (including a just-slightly wary Chicklet)...

And one last spin (ha) on The Magic Tea Party...

I mean, we seriously breezed through every line (I love you, Fast Passes!)—except for two, that only required 10-minute waits. So we were always moving, always entertained, the kiddos were always happy.

And the one time—around 3:30 p.m.—when they started to tank, some bubble wands fixed everything so we could make the train ride, souvenir shopping, monorail trek and walk to the car. :)

I mean, seriously, a great day that I would not have predicted! I didn’t even curse once! Unimaginable!

Disney, we survived you—and still had smiles on our faces as we headed to the car (and that’s the first time I heard, “me feet are tired.”)

I’m sort of in a state of shock.

And totally ready for a good night’s rest. :)

One more day of undetermined fun.

Over and out!
