Schedule’s Off, Summer’s On

Oh my goodness, my babies have wasted no time throwing their school-year schedules by the wayside.

Though Little Man was only slightly later than usual to rise this morning, my eldest little lady...

...didn’t grace us with her presence until 9:24 a.m.

And as if that wasn’t astounding enough, my middle-born little lady...

...had an epic sleep-fest the likes of which I’ve never seen from any of my babes.

I went to her around 8:20 a.m., when I hadn’t heard a peep, and she was groggy but requesting undies assistance, which I gave.

But then she didn’t perk up after that—and she’s my one who goes from dead-asleep to wide-awake most mornings. So I took a chance and snuggled her back in bed, and she asked—like, actually requested—that we go back to bed.

Say, what???

She even opened her eyes when her brother barged in a little later—only to swat him away with her arm and close her eyes again.

I mean, seriously, peeps.

From her, this is like hospitalization behavior.

But I left her there and kept checking...

And finally, finally, when her sissy went up to check on her, my sleeping beauty decided to rouse.

At 10:18 a.m.

I mean...what is happening here???

Those she graced us with this impossibly beautiful smile while she ate loads o’ breakfast, at other points during the day, I felt she was a little quieter than usual.

So...the root cause of the sleep fest remains to be seen.

Is she getting sick?

Is she growing?

Is the making up for a couple of nights that she did enough sleep poorly? (Please note our round of 4 a.m. hilarious conversation on Friday night [Saturday morning?] when we discussed butterflies, her stuffed animal, Mr. Fox, and his blanket needs [oh, and she had him speak to me and snuggle me], her friend, Elise, her desire for a pet of any kind, her thoughts on monsters in her brother’s room that she could keep him safe from, and on and on and on.

Is she just keenly aware that the summer is here and all bets are off?

Is it a combination of all of the above???

Only time will tell.

But I gotta say—I have been one whatevs woman this evening. Even grocery shopping couldn’t bring me down, when I thought of not making school lunches, not dragging babies on school drop offs and pick ups, and not adhering to a rigid schedule.

Well...expect for tomorrow at 11a.m. when we have our inaugural swim lesson o’ the summer!

Yup. We’re diving right in.

Literally.

;)

HAPPY FREAKING SUMMER!

P.S. Remind me of this happiness when I’m pulling my hair out in a couple of weeks.
