Our Inaugural San Antonio Zoo Visit!

Oh. My. Stinking. Heavens.

I think it’s a pretty strong testament to the circus of life around here that we visited the SA zoo for the very first time two weeks ago, but I’m just now taking a moment to post about it!

I mean...seriously.

Unacceptable!

But also...reality.

So we’re gonna go with a better-late-than-never mentality for the time being, and just roll with it.

M’kay?

M’kay.

So. If you’ve spent any time following this here blog, you’ve probably noticed that: 1) my kiddos are pretty wildly animal obsessed, and 2) we frequently loved and lived up The Dallas Zoo.

So we were sad to leave it behind, especially the cheetah—who we adored and got to see run during every visit—as they aren’t very common at local zoos.

But there were loads of fun, different things to explore at our new local zoo (hello, caracals, ocelots, and sloths, oh my!), so I think we’re going to have a happy bond with this one, just as we did our last.

All in all, it was a lovely, if short, first visit, since we were working it in amongst a fall of some necessary errands.

The vibe is so unique out there. Reminiscent of Disney’s Animal Kingdom to me, actually. Something about the pathways and the inclines, ha. Might be helpful to rent or bring a stroller in the future—especially in these hot months. And we for sure want to ride the train we didn’t have time for today. So...a happy first round and lots to look forward to.

Side note: look at Little Man’s rockin’ Batman gear—including sunglasses. :)

My flamingos in training:

The best part of this particular visit: a giraffe encounter, just like we love! At our last zoo, you could also feed them, but it was a bit of a free-for-all. Here, you stand in line and then have solo time, which is lovely, since the line doesn’t seem to take too long.

There are three giraffes here—a father, and two sons. This was Cosmo, one of the sons. :)

And one very exciting surprise: they do have cheetahs! Only problem: we didn’t catch a glimpse of one. They were in hiding! Napping on a warm afternoon, I suppose. Something to look forward to next time. :)

Just like in Dallas, I have a feeling we’ll be looking back at loads of happy visits here. Grateful to have an outlet like this for my animal-loving babies.

:)

Happy Saturday, peeps!
