Father’s Day 2019

Oh my goodness, what a lovey, normal weekend we had ‘round our casa.

Swimming as a family on Friday evening to kick off the weekend, a lazy home-cooked breakfast on Saturday morning, a family movie out, lots o’ time for Daddy to chill on the couch and watch golf.

And you know something? As we pulled into church this morning, and noticed a parking lot far less filled than on a typical Sunday (and fat far far less filled than on a typical Mother’s Day), it struck me—yet again—that perhaps many of the men in our lives appreciate less instead of more on this special day.

And by that, I mean, fewer scheduled activities, fewer household to-do lists, fewer regimented responsibilities. Just less...of everything

Some chill time and some relaxation.

Perhaps that’s indicative of the young kiddo phase we’re still in, where the parenting is so rowdy and hands-on, but I feel like this less-is-more celebration is so true around our household.

We celebrated Daddy with typical gifts and a special meal out together, but what we really gifted him this whole weekend was the space for a little bit more “me” time. :)

And man oh man, we might be biased, but nobody in the whole wide world deserves it more than the most fantastic father we are so blessed to have.

I hope you and yours had a wonderful weekend.

(Side note: we really hit the jackpot with this amazingly beautiful, peaceful and chic restaurant recommendation that I received from a new neighborhood friend.

It’s sort of becoming a tradition of ours to try and find a golf resort dining opportunity on Father’s Day, and this was just perfection. And—bonus—the kiddos were absolutely wild over the view and the space beyond the restaurant. A happy meal, undeed! And, hilariously, we ran into my neighborhood friend while we were there. So grateful for peeps who know more about little gems like this around SA.)

P.S. The similarity between last year’s Father’s Day pic and this year’s (same shirt, Daddy!; same blue/pink coordinating outfits; nearly identical tree setting/pose!) just tickles me pink (pun intended, hehe). I’m sure if I wanted to, I could make some sweeping analogy to the steadfastness of the hubby and his loving play with the kiddos, but I’ll resist, ha.

Beautiful babies, and the most beautiful man—on the inside and out.

Happy Sunday, peeps!
